Prof. Dr. Carolin Lerchenmueller
Head, Chair for Gender Medicine, University of Zurich
In 2024, Prof Lerchenmüller took over the Chair for Gender Medicine at the University of Zurich and continued her clinical work in the Department of Cardiology at the University Hospital of Zurich. In 2021 she founded the Heidelberg Gender Medicine Network, which she has led since then. Her research focuses on the cardioprotective effects of exercise and sport and the role of equity and diversity in medicine and science.
She studied medicine at the University of Heidelberg, where she also qualified as a cardiologist at the University Hospital. After a research fellowship at MGH/Harvard Medical School, she became head of the Cardiac Remodelling and Regeneration Laboratory in Heidelberg.
