Dr. Lukas Engelberger

Dr iur. Lukas Engelberger has been Head of the Department of Public Health of the Canton of Basel-Stadt since August 2014. After studying law and obtaining his doctorate at the Universities of Basel, Fribourg, Bern and London, he began his professional career as an attorney at law at Bär & Karrer in Zurich (2003-2005). He then worked as a corporate legal counsel at F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG until 2014.

Engelberger is President of the Swiss Conference of the Cantonal ministers of Public Health (GDK) and plays a central role in national health policy. He is also a board member of Swissmedic and of Cantosana AG.
