Alexandra Helbling

After a serious car accident on 3 June 2000, which left her with an incomplete paraplegia (contusio spinalis level Th 11/12), Alexandra Helbling is confined to a wheelchair.

Five years after the accident, she discovered her passion for wheelchair racing. With enormous discipline and intensive training, she made it into the national team. In 2010, she crowned her sporting achievements by winning two World Junior titles in the U18 category.

Her goal is to become a professional athlete, but the financial hurdles in wheelchair racing are enormous. Despite these challenges, she remains true to her passion and continues to pursue her goal of combining sport and work to achieve long-term success in both areas.
